About the Company:
Beauvivo is a Leaping Bunny Certified, Luxury Skin Care product manufacturer based in Sylva, NC. "Beauvivo" means "Beautiful Life", "Beau" (pronounced - "Bo") means beautiful in French and "Vivo" (pronounced - "Vee-Vo") means life in Italian. Nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, this company was created to help others with products that have worked for us and to help promote self-worth and natural, individual beauty with products formulated with less chemicals than those of larger manufacturers.
Our products are 100% handcrafted, made with Certified Organic Ingredients, are void of preservatives, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, propylene glycol, lead, formaldehyde, DEA/TEA/MEA, coal tar, mercury, mineral oils, and are animal and cruelty-free.
The beginning of Beauvivo started many years ago when owner, Bryant Fouts, would sneak to watch his grandmother mix batches of crude bar soap that she would often make and give to many in the family. His grandmother learned her craft from her mother and grandmother. They made soap in a process quite similar to how African Black Soap was made. Their soap formulation grew from using hot ash and plantain leaves, to later including lye and grease. While these soaps were very effective at cleaning, they were also very harsh on the skin due to the nature of the ingredients, and the inconsistency in the amount of lye (sodium hydroxide) used. Saponification values were not used in the formulation of these soaps so often too much lye remained in the bar. Learning from these traditional processes, Bryant would also study the underlying chemical science to formulate gentle, effective, and longer lasting handcrafted soaps. Then, he spent 3 more years perfecting his process before deciding to open Beauvivo.
To ensure e a better skin care product was created, Beauvivo’s formulation requires the use of high quality, animal and cruelty free, and; for the most part, 100% natural ingredients. In fact, a large portion of the ingredients are Certified Organic with a mission to become a fully USDA Certified Organic Facility. Furthermore, they forgo the large batch process of adding harsh chemicals. Soap making started off as a craft and product only available from artisans and small businesses such as Beauvivo. Later, larger manufacturing companies began monopolizing on soap making; making the products in very large batches and removing the naturally occurring glycerin from the soap to sell as a separate item. With the glycerin removed, this resulted in a bar that was much cheaper but also very harsh for your skin. Manufactured soaps are also loaded with additional chemicals such as sulfates, formaldehyde, parabens, and others and are, essentially, little bars of detergent, instead of moisturizing and hydrating bars of soapy goodness such as what Beauvivo offers.
Since starting their business in December of 2016, Beauvivo is seeing steady growth. Selling predominantly online through their website and Etsy, they also create custom batches for their customers, and wholesale opportunities for their retail clients.
